Excellent news has reached us that the students from the Department of English performed well in “The Third 21st Century Newspaper Reading Competition among Technical & Vocational Colleges in Shanghai”. Eight students were awarded the First, Second and Third Prizes, the number of the winners from the Department of English accounted for more than one-third among the total number of the winners for this event.
This competition is a regular one directed by sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Higher Vocational College English-Major Teaching Guidance Committee and co-hosted by Shanghai Foreign Language Institute of Higher Vocational Foreign Language Teaching Professional Committee and 21st Century Newspaper of China Daily. The Department of English of our college has always been an active participant in this event and performed well. This time, Miss Dou Chunxia, the Assistant to the Dean and Zeng Ling, Head of Teaching & Research Section for Integrated English spent much time working with the contestants. Kong Aonan was awarded the First Prize. Zhou Meixia, together with other four students ,were awarded the Second Prize and Ou Qihua and Song Weng were award the Third Prize. By carrying forward the traditions and striving for new development, the Department of English has again successfully displayed the elegant demeanour as usual.
