Shanghai Industry & Commerce Foreign Language College (SICFL for short), which was founded in 2001, is a full-time tertiary school officially approved by Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and registered in Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China. The school isadjacent to Shanghai Pudong International Airport. With over7000 registered full-time students , SICFL is one of the largest private tertiary schools in Shanghai.

Shanghai stands out as an international metropolis, and its rapid advance in modern and foreign service industries, establishment of Shanghai Free Trade Pilot Zone and development of Shanghai Disneyland all present new requirements of competent English personnel, which also offers a great prospect for SICFL.

SICFL covers an area of 20.267 hectares, 13,511.11 square meters and its total investment is added up to 540 million yuan (RMB). The school boasts equipment and apparatus worth 40 million yuan (RMB). SICFLhas constructed ‘foreign language scenario simulation trainingcenter’, ‘international trade trainingcenter’, ‘modern secretary training base’ and ‘state level N/C technology training base’. In the last five years,SICFL has been granted 1.20 million yuan (RMB) by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission to subsidize students, and it is amount to 1.52 million yuan (RMB) till 2014.

SICFL has six foreign language departments -- English, Japanese, German, French, Korean and Spanish -- and it offers over twenty-three specialized programs, including international business, hotel management, accounting, legal affairs, news editing&production, office administration, Chinese, mechanical and electronic engineering,computer applications in art and design, visual transmission design, etc.The four major groups of programs, namely ‘foreign languages of applied science’, ‘finance and economic management’, ‘engineering and information technology’and‘art design’ have come into shape.

SICFL has establishedinternational communication and collaboration with 34 overseas tertiary schools. Till now, more than 300 students went to our overseas partners to pursue the degree programs after they had accomplished their formal study at SICFL. In addition, in the years of 2013 and 2014, SICFL has been granted 1.52 million yuan (RMB) by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission to subsidize 100 students from Departments of English, Germany, Japanese and Business to go to USA, Germany, Britain, and Australiato have a three-month-long credit-based course study. Within two years SICFL has received more than 400 visitors from the foreign colleges and has undertaken 11 batches of foreign aid group project held by Ministry of Commerce of China.
